Violent Dream Disorder May Precede Parkinson’s Disease
People with a sleep disturbance that causes them to thrash out their violent dreams at night may be more likely to develop Parkinson’s Disease later in life, a new study’s found. REM Sleep Behavior Disorder (RBD) sufferers often punch, kick, or scream at dream attackers, and researchers say up to 80 percent of these RBD patients may go on to develop Parkinson’s and other neurological conditions. Experts point out that RBD is a much more serious disorder, and that ordinary nightmares and periods of violent dreams are not necessarily RBD.
